Lucky!

Written by Lisa. Posted in Free Printables, Gifts, Holidays, St Patrick's Day

We had a interesting St Patty’s day…not at all what I planned on but that’s life! The boys devoured their Lucky Charms for Breakfast, but we ran into some problems with dinner. I put our Corned Beef in the crock pot in the morning and was expecting it to be perfectly ready when we got home from church. Unfortunately when we got home from church I realized that our crock pot has a warm setting! So we had a nice lukewarm hardly cooked piece of meat icon sad Lucky! I pumped it to high and we ate dinner somewhere around 8:00 pm! Because we ate dinner so late I didn’t get a chance to make the Irish lemon pudding from The Baker Upstairs that I really wanted to try so we will make it for Family Home Evening treat tonight. I just wasn’t about to give my boys a treat right before putting them to bed!

Not all was lost though we did get something big and green on Saturday in our backyard!

I am so excited! It took 2.5 pallets of sod and at first it was just John and I laying it. I made it almost through one pallet into the project and was going to die! I was hauling the sod from the truck in the front to the backyard and my arms were dying. Then our neighbor Rick showed up and asked why he wasn’t invited to the party. He was a lifesaver! Between him and John they got it all laid! I really wanted to do something nice for him and since Sunday was St Patty’s I made a little tag to attach to some treats.

Just for fun I also changed the tag to read for teacher and friend too.

Lucky to be your neighbor thumb Lucky!

Check out how the boys dressed for church:

We all wore St Patrick’s Day socks with no other obvious green. The boys had so much fun tricking people into pinching them icon smile Lucky!

Hope you all had a good lucky day!

St Patrick’s Singing Time Idea

Written by Lisa. Posted in LDS, Primary Music, St Patrick's Day

This singing time idea was inspired by a singing time idea I saw on Sugardoodle.net by Debbie Huber.

First I created a sheet with things that were lucky and also leprechauns and cut them into individual pieces. I added ribbon to my Halloween cauldron to make it look more like a pot of gold.

Then I folded and added the papers to the cauldron. During Singing time I had a child come up and draw a paper from the cauldron. If they picked something lucky then they got to sing their favorite primary song. If they picked a tricky leprechaun then their teacher got to pick their favorite primary song. The kids had fun and I think the teachers enjoyed it too. It was good for the kids to hear some songs that we normally don’t sing also.

For nursery singing time I printed a second sheet of the pictures and wrote names of songs on the back. I put the papers in a green bag and allowed the kids to draw one out and we sang the song. It was easy and fun!

You can download the sheet of clip art:

St Patrick’s Marshmallow Treats!

Written by Lisa. Posted in Dessert, Recipes, St Patrick's Day

For our Family Night treat a couple of weeks ago Beckham picked Rice Krispy Treats for our dessert. While in the cereal aisle he decide instead of Rice Krispy’s he wanted Lucky Charms and I figured it was perfect for this time of year.

Its super easy! All you need is butter, marshmallows, and Lucky Charms!

3 Tbsp butter

1 pkg marshmallows

5 1/2 cups cereal.

I always use a little less cereal because I like them to be really sticky and soft. First I melted the butter, then added the marshmallows in until they were melted. Then I carefully folded in the cereal. I didn’t let it sit long on the bottom of the hot pan because I didn’t want the marshmallows in the cereal to melt and get ugly.

My boys loved them! I liked them but I don’t love Lucky Charms so I wasn’t planning on liking them at all. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised.
