Thanksgiving Bunting and Subway Art
Last year was a really hard and special Thanksgiving for our family, because we knew it would be my Moms last. My Mom had just had her feeding tube inserted and was starting to use a biPap machine to breathe. She also had started to use her ipad to speak for her, since she was slowly losing her ability to be understood. It made our whole family realize just how much we had to be thankful for. Of course there was an element of sadness, but it made us so much more sensitive to all of the blessing we did have.
I wanted to design a fun burlap bunting and Thanksgiving Subway art this year to express all of those feelings of thankfulness I felt last year. Tomorrow, we will also be sharing a Thanksgiving Dinner Pack that matches and will include place cards, food tags, centerpiece printables, and thankful cards!
Growing up, my Mom always hosted Christmas and my Aunt always hosted Thanksgiving. My family hadn’t been to Thanksgiving at my Aunts for 8 years until last year. Our Thanksgivings have been all over the place. One year we even spent it with Pam and her family! We had really missed spending the holiday with Aunt’s family and are now planning on spending Thanksgiving every year with them. Here are a few things that we do each year…
- 5 K Turkey trot – a great way to start the gluttonous day off!
- Cooking for the Moms, football for the boys, and swimming for the kids! My Aunt makes the most beautiful turkey! My favorite part is the crunchy stuffing she puts on top!
- Bunco! This is a new tradition we have started and it’s so fun! We have prizes that we turn into a white elephant exchange. It gets pretty funny!
- Lastly, we can’t forget that my cousin Kelly makes us an agenda with all sorts of fun activities. There is never a dull moment!
Pam is way more on the ball than I am and already has her decorations ready!
